Be Part of The Team
Support those who respond.
At First Responder Code 4 Wellness, we bridge the gap between operational stress and professional support. We are looking for dedicated individuals to fill two vital roles.
1. First Responder Support Team (The “Safe Landing”)
The Role: Provide non-clinical, peer-to-peer support for colleagues in distress. You are the “Safe Landing”—the first point of contact providing “Code 4” check-ins and active listening to reduce stigma.
- Key Responsibilities: Conduct 1-on-1 support sessions (in-person or phone), identify signs of burnout/PTSD, and serve as a bridge to vetted clinical care when needed.
- Qualifications: 2–5 years in Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, or Dispatch (current or retired) or lived cultural family experience. Completion of approved Peer Support/QPR/CIT training required.
2. Wellness Outreach Coordinator (The “Boots on the Ground”)
The Role: A community-facing advocate focused on building trust with Geauga County agencies. You manage the distribution of resources and build relationships with local Chiefs, Sheriffs, and department leads.
- Key Responsibilities: Execute “The Tour” (station visits), manage the Sponsorship Program with local businesses, and ensure “Code 4” materials are stocked in high-traffic responder areas.
- Qualifications: Strong communication skills, background in outreach/sales, and a deep understanding of Geauga County agency culture.
Our Standard: The “Vegas Rule”
The foundation of our mission is Psychological Safety. Every team member adheres to a strict standard of integrity to dismantle the “tough it out” culture:
- Absolute Confidentiality: What is said here, stays here. We provide a space where responders can admit vulnerability without fear of it affecting their “fitness-for-duty” or becoming “locker room talk.”
- Non-Clinical Approach: We provide “check-ins,” not medical assessments. We meet responders where they are, rank-free and off-site.
- The Safety Net: While we protect the “Vegas Rule,” we maintain clear boundaries for “Clear and Present Danger” (threats to self or others) to ensure everyone’s ultimate safety.
Why “Code 4”? In radio code, it means “everything is under control.” We use this name to remind responders that to actually be Code 4 on the street, they must prioritize their mental health behind the scenes.
