Who We Are: Resilience Beyond the Siren
At First Responder Code 4, we understand that for those in law enforcement, fire, and EMS, “Code 4” means the scene is under control. But often, the internal scene—the mental and emotional toll of the job—is anything but.
Our mission is to provide first responder mental health resources, peer support, and resilience training specifically designed for the unique stressors of emergency services. We aren’t just a nonprofit; we are a lifeline for those who spend their lives being the lifeline for others.
Why Our Mission Matters
The statistics are clear: first responders face higher rates of PTSD, depression, and career burnout than the general population. Traditional clinical approaches often miss the mark because they don’t understand the “culture of the uniform.”
Peer-Driven Solutions: Our programs are built by and for first responders. Our Mission: Changing the Culture
Specialized Support: We bridge the gap between clinical care and frontline reality.
Confidentiality First: We prioritize the privacy and professional standing of every individual we serve.
We didn’t build this to be another “wellness initiative” pushed down from the top. We built this to be your backup. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit run for first responders, by people who actually understand the job.
Whether you’re Law Enforcement, Corrections, Medical, Fire, EMS, or Dispatch, our goal is simple: Give you the tools to stay in the job you love without losing yourself in the process.
Why the 501(c)(3) Status Matters to Us
We chose to become a nonprofit for one reason: Integrity. * Zero Profit, All Mission: Every dollar donated goes right back into training, mental health resources, and physical wellness programs for the boots on the ground.
- Confidentiality: Because we are a nonprofit, we answer to our mission and our board—not a city budget or a corporate bottom line.
- Tax-Deductible: For those who want to support us, your contributions are fully tax-deductible. We keep our books open because trust is earned, not given.
No Stigma. Just Survival.
Asking for backup on a hot call isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s how you stay alive. Taking care of your mental and physical health is no different. First Responder Code 4 Wellness is here to make sure that when you say you’re “Code 4,” you actually mean it.
Meet Our Founders
A Message from Our Founders: What “Code 4” Means to Us
In the world of first responders, whether you’re behind the wheel of a cruiser, on the back of a rig, working at a correction facilities, or behind the dispatch console, the words “Code 4” carry a heavy weight. Over the radio, it’s a simple signal: The scene is safe. No further assistance is needed. We have it under control.
But as many of us know, just because the scene is “Code 4” doesn’t mean the person who handled it is.
For years, first responders have prioritized the safety of our neighbors at the expense of their own well-being. They’ve seen the things that cannot be unseen and carried the burdens that don’t just disappear when the shift ends. They are trained to handle the chaos of others, yet they are rarely taught how to handle the quiet chaos that follows them home.
We founded First Responder Code 4 Wellness because it’s time we bring that same sense of “Code 4” to first responders’ lives.
Our mission is to provide police, fire, EMS, Corrections, and dispatchers with a safe place to land. We aren’t here to offer clinical lectures; we’re here to offer peer-driven, trauma-informed support that speaks the language of the job. Whether it’s through crisis intervention, peer support, or simply connecting a first responder in need with the right resources, our goal is the same:
To ensure that when you go home to your family, you aren’t just safe, you are whole.
If you’re feeling the weight, remember: It’s okay to need backup. No one responds alone, and no one should have to carry the mental toll of this job alone. We’ve got your back, so we can all truly be Code 4.
